Venue
The Saloon is a nonprofit bar. Its profits build schools overseas, and it closes every August so the owner can go pour the concrete. Read the story.
Drinks & bites
$15 at the door gets you a drink token, and every dollar of it goes to the Saloon. Beyond that it's a cash bar, with snacks and sweets from the hosts. Tip well.

Getting there
U Street / African-American Civil War Memorial / Cardozo on the Green and Yellow lines, half a block away. Parking on U Street is grim. Rideshare in.
